Production 

Our production of laser perforated film is best descriped by the following steps.                        

Testing

Our own laboratory, ScanLab, has the most modern equipment available on the market for measuring permeability and respiration.
All tests are carried out after the products have been acclimated and stored in climatic test cabinets.

The shelf life of the packaged products is examined and the values are generated in the SEP database. The actual test data will form the basis of the subsequent production process. We also do periodic testing for current clients and if our laboratory testing shows that a changed permeability is required, the next supply of film will be adjusted according to the measuring results.

Calculations

The respiration values of the products are then measured and the optimum permeability of the packaging is then calculated by the ”ScanFresh® Estimation Programme”.

Laser perforation

By means of laser perforation, we are able to change the permeability of the film. Thus we obtain the preconditions of EMAP (Equilibrium Modified Atmosphere Packaging), which results in a balancing of oxygen and carbon dioxide inside the packaging. As a result of an optimised perforation, the respiration is reduced and the shelf life of the product is extended.

Quality Control 

Using an OTR control system we constantly monitor the permeability of the film and if necessary we make adjustments of the size and / or distance of the holes. Continually we take out samples of the processed films. Results of the OTR control and pictures of the perforated holes are sent to customers on request. OTR = Oxygen Transmission Rate.
